  3. >Thanks. These photos were taken on two holidays in 2001, and 2003. The upper photo was taken in 2001, when I stopped to ask the way looking for Meldenhall Plantation, Jamestown NC, [near Winston-Salem] and spotted the sign. Meldenhall was owned by Quakers who were involved in the Underground Railway before the Civil War. In the barn there was an interesting false bottom wagon which was used to hide slaves.The second photo was taken on a bazing hot September day on the Kentucky River when we were staying at the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill.
