The svenska översatta kriminalroman [Martin Beck Award] for 2011 has been won by Denise Mina with The End of the Wasp Season. This award has been won previously by some of the elite of the crime writing  world including Deon Meyer [shortlisted again this year], Andrew Taylor, Arnaldur Indridason, Karin Fossum, Alexander McCall Smith and Thomas H. Cook.

Good for her. I thought it was a good book, though controversy abounds on this one throughout the blogosphere. I did not like the first one in the Alex Morrow series, but this one, to me, harkens back to the quality of the Garnethill trilogy. (I did like the Paddy Meehan series.) It has very good character development, although readers will surely not like many of the characters. I liked enough to have enjoyed this book.

  4. Maxine says:

Mixed views on whether to read this one – I was mixed about the first in this series too, some good points but some less so. At this stage it is a case of “if I spot it in the library I may give it a go” but not much more than that.

This amazing lady is my aunt, and it honestly could not have happened to a harder working lady, totally well earned! XxX
