We had a few days away and for once I did very little reading so I have some catching up to do. The photograph might, or might not, be a clue as to where we went.

Norman – Nice to see you back!! I really hope you enjoyed your holiday.
I thought you’d been a bit quiet! Hope you had a good, relaxing time.
Gosh interesting church – Italian spire, Norman archways, Gothic rose window. I’m plumping for France as I doubt the saint statues would have survived the Reformation in England.
Welcome home. Look forward to your characteristic contributions to the internet again, I’ve missed you and them!
I’m thinking Sicily, as befits a Cammillleri expert!
Laura, I was looking for Salvo Montalbano to come down the steps outside the church, and I was shocked to find myself in Wiltshire! 😉
Glad to have yo back Norman.
Thanks to all. 🙂
When I spotted this church while we were driving along I thought I was in Orvieto, but in fact this is the Anglican Church of St Mary and St Nicholas in Wilton just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire!
Sarah, I was also surprised it had survived Henry VIII until I realised it had been built in the 1840s for £20,000 provided by Hon Sidney Herbert and his Russian mother the Dowager Countess of Pembroke. http://bit.ly/MEmz4J
Well, I’m glad I didn’t guess because I was going to be really wrong (Glasgow!).
