Back from holiday

We had a few days away and for once I did very little reading so I have some catching up to do. The photograph might, or might not, be a clue as to where we went.

  1. Norman – Nice to see you back!! I really hope you enjoyed your holiday.

  2. I thought you’d been a bit quiet! Hope you had a good,relaxing time.

  3. Sarah says:

Gosh interesting church – Italian spire, Norman archways, Gothic rose window. I’m plumping for France as I doubt the saint statues would have survived the Reformation in England.

  4. Maxine says:

Welcome home. Look forward to your characteristic contributions to the internet again, I’ve missed you and them!

  5. LauraRoot says:

I’m thinking Sicily, as befits a Cammillleri expert!

  6. Jose Ignacio says:

Glad to have yo back Norman.

  7. Norman Price says:

    Thanks to all. 🙂
When I spotted this church while we were driving along I thought I was in Orvieto, but in fact this is the Anglican Church of St Mary and St Nicholas in Wilton just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire!

Sarah, I was also surprised it had survived Henry VIII until I realised it had been built in the 1840s for £20,000 provided by Hon Sidney Herbert and his Russian mother the Dowager Countess of Pembroke. http://bit.ly/MEmz4J

  8. Well, I’m glad I didn’t guess because I was going to be really wrong (Glasgow!).
