I wondered if anyone could identify all the ladies in this photo montage of Female Crime Writers. I am sorry no prizes so just stick your answers in the comments, and it will be interesting to see how long it takes for all the authors to be identified.

Thanks Bernadette. 9 correct, one wrong, [number 5]. 😉
1. Frances Fyfield
5. Mari Jungstedt
12. Helene Tursten
Well done Jenni! you got no 12, Helen Tursten. Only no 6 to go now.
1 is Frances Fyfield; 10 Esther Verhoef (?); 15 Saskia Noort.
No 6 is really bugging me.
13 is a young Agatha Christie?
I think No 5 is Mari Jungstedt….
I think you are right, Philip.
Well done Rhian for those double dutch answers! You are spot on 13 is a very young Agatha Christie, and Philip is correct no 5 is Mari Jungstedt. Only no 6 and no 12 to go.
Have seen both 6 and 12 before and can’t remember. In the case of 6 I do remember thinking ‘She looks much harder than I imagined’. And I think it’s a TV programme with her being interviewed. This will now bug me until someone else comes up with the answer.
I didn’t think 5 was right…knew I had seen the photo somewhere relatively recently but couldn’t place it – and I don’t feel bad now about missing 1, 10 or 15 as I haven’t read anything by any of them
I know I have seen 6 before too Rhian but I can’t place her…and 12 doesn’t ring any bells at all (though I will probably hit my head and say ‘doh’ when it is revealed)
Norman does Mrs Crimescraps know that your obsession with crime fiction is really hiding an obsession with attractive, Scandinavian blondes?
I was thinking this too, Bernadette …’Norman does Mrs Crimescraps know that your obsession with crime fiction is really hiding an obsession with attractive, Scandinavian blondes?’
(Have not looked at previous comments so this is a “de novo” attempt (with no cheating aka looking up anywhere else!)

Norman – Thanks for this! It’s lots of fun! But – erm – I think Rhian has a very valid question 😉
It was Bernadette’s question! I simply quoted.
Whoops, you are exactly right! Sorry Bernadette *embarrassed blush*
Well done Maxine, you got one of the Dutch girls.
But still no one has got numbers 6 and 12.
As for Bernadette’s question Mrs Crimescraps knows that if at my age “obsessing” about Scandinavian blonde or any female crime writers is about my limit.
But having in the past been shunted backwards in the rush, when translator Don Bartlett was spotted by female fans, and also having the remote control ripped from my hand when Prof Brian Cox was on TV [a thirst for scientific knowledge?] ; I know how an obsession can affect the female of the species.
Ha ha, Norman (re St Don of Bartlett).
Maxine, did I exaggerate? I don’t think so. 😉
[…] for a little fun, in answer to Norm’s women-centred challenge of this morning. Again, no prizes. Who are the authors? Some pics may be from Harrogate the other weekend for […]
Now you can cross into my world, Norm…

Feel the pain.
Jenni got no 12; Helene Tursten. So we have only no 6 to get.
She looks a bit like Camilla Ceder but I don’t think it is her. And the young Maj Sjowall had short hair I think…..stuck!
Number 6 is Claudia Piñeiro, Norm.
