July was another successful month in which I read four excellent books. It was a difficult choice to pick a best book, but discovering a new
author, who has created characters you want to meet again, is always such a great pleasure that my vote goes this month to The Blind Goddess by Anne Holt. This story of corruption among the wealthy dates from 1993 but still seems fresh and relevant today.

Great choice, Norman. I read this book in July too, but my review is not out yet (at Euro Crime). I really enjoyed it.
oops, I sorry the review is out! I’ll have to include it in my august selection 😉
Thanks Maxine I was sure I had read your excellent review. 😉 It does not take much to confuse me now. 🙂
Norman – An excellent choice indeed! I really hope more of that series is translated soon.
Glad you liked the book Norman. I need to catch up with Anne Holt’s latest.
Good to see this review! My library miraculously got it on the shelves and it’s on hold for me. That is almost shocking since our libraries are barely ordering any global crime fiction. I can’t wait to read it although my TBR library pile is huge right now.
I’m reading this now and I can’t take my nose out of the book. What good writing! Interesting characters. Although drug dealers and associated crimes do not normally catch my fancy, this book is drawing me in.
As others have noted, it will be a revelation to find out how Hanne’s character evolved from a friendly, open, cheerful person into an angry, bitter and anti-social individual.
Well, we’ll find out eventually as the books are translated and published.
